“Some people reject God because they can find no evidence for Him which satisfies both their hearts and minds simultaneously. Then there are others who accept God on the basis of emotional or irrational reasons which satisfy their hearts, but leave their minds unsure. These two groups of people have never found a satisfying answer to the question of their relationship with God. Then there are yet others who have found the correct path which God intended for us: to accept Him and His message to us using our minds first and foremost, and the heart follows easily and naturally as a consequence. Instead of searching for the answer, there are also some people who chose to simply brush the question aside and ignore it unfortunately. This is the easy way out of what appears to be a very difficult, mysterious question which may seem to have no final solution. Most of these people are unaware of a very powerful message which completely and unequivocally establishes the correct path to God. This message squares with both the mind and the heart, and it has no equal since it comes to us straight from God Himself.

ABOUT THE FILM

Puerto Rican American rapper Hamza Pérez ended his life as a drug dealer 12 years ago, and started down a new path as a young Muslim.

Now he’s moved to Pittsburgh’s tough North Side to start a new religious community, rebuild his shattered family, and take his message of faith to other young people through his uncompromising music as part of the hip-hop duo M-Team.

Raising his two kids as a single dad and longing for companionship, Hamza finds love on a Muslim networking website and seizes the chance for happiness in a second marriage.

But when the FBI raids his mosque, Hamza must confront the realities of the post-9/11 world, and challenge himself. He starts reaching for a deeper understanding of his faith, discovering new connections with people from Christian and Jewish communities.

NEW MUSLIM COOL takes viewers on Hamza’s ride through the streets, projects and jail cells of urban America, following his spiritual journey to some surprising places —where we can all see ourselves reflected in a world that never stops changing.

Yaser Birjas and ICNA’s Why Islam Campaign Featured on TV – El Paso’s KSTM News

without comments

from Muslim Matter’s.com

Shaykh Yaser Birjas and ICNA’s Why Islam campaign were featured on KSTM Channel 9 news in El Paso, TX. The feature was based off of a billboard put up by Why Islam, followed by a visit to the Islamic Center of El Paso, TX and a quick message to the local viewers in El Paso about what Islam and the 3,000 some Muslims in their own community are all about.

This video is nice because it highlights a successful result of the Why Islam campaign. The billboard they used got attention, it raised some awareness of Islam, and now with the help of the local news channel, thousands more are informed that if they have any questions they can either go to www.whyislam.org or go to the local Islamic Center where Yaser Birjas is. Now that’s what you call successful marketing!

May Allah (SWT) continue to help our da’wah grow and bless the likes of Why Islam, ICNA, the Islamic Center of El Paso, and our dear teacher Shaykh Yaser Birjas. Oh, and don’t forget MM Associate Haytham who found this video. )

Duke University hires Muslim Chaplain (imam) + New Center For Muslim Life

without comments

Today on NPR there was an interview with Duke University’s first Muslim Chaplain: Imam Abdullah Antepli.

In even more remarkable news, he has helped form the new 1,400 square-foot Center For Muslim Life on campus!

Talk about upgrading your campus prayer room, Mashallah! :-)

The news is quite astonishing considering he was hired full time by Duke University to serve as a Muslim Student Association Muslim Chaplain / Adjunct Faculty of Islamic Studies.  Duke University’s praiseworthy commitment to proactively moving beyond political rhetoric and instead focusing,  as an educational institute, in serving it’s Muslim population’s needs and the educational needs of the campus, I hope will encourage other universities to follow suit. Only three other U.S. universities have full-time Muslim chaplains — Georgetown, Princeton and Yale.

“Chaplain Antepli was the overwhelming choice for the position by students, staff and faculty,” said Zoila Airall, assistant vice president for campus life at Duke. “He brings a wonderful combination of spirituality, inspiration and wisdom to this position.”

The new CENTER FOR MUSLIM LIFE is located in the old Robertson House which is right next to the Plant Accounting building on Swift Avenue. Please click here for map

All American Girl Next Door

Quote: (Reporter): What do you want people to know about why you converted?
”I was seeking truth, and I found it.”

Quote: “I saw a very dark persona of Muslims in general to Americans and I realized it was so far removed from my actual experience abroad…”

Quote: ..”I picked up a Quran and I started reading of course thinking here’s a book that discriminates against women, that does not give them their equal rights, is not fair and divided, but I found exactly the opposite after reading the direct source and the direct word of God.”

Quote: “…it was so clear for me those words were from God.
