The Key To Paradise
No matter how many lectures you attend…
No matter how many khutbas you listen to…
No matter how many advanced islamic sciences you study…
It comes down to one thing.
On Michael Jackson and Muslims
2 posts put some much needed clarity in the chaos of the recent news.

“Its effect is vastly under-estimated which is why many Muslims simply cannot understand why their fellow brothers and sisters are making such a big deal of an artist as talented and masterful as Michael Jackson”
“I feel that Muslim scholars deal with the topic of music very poorly. Many of them simply (and rather fortunately!) cannot appreciate the hold music can have over the hearts of its victims.”

{“And lower unto them[Parents] the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: “My Lord! Bestow on them[Parents] Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was small.”} 17:24

I marvel at the delicious irony of life sometimes.
I prepared a 30-hour series on the “Rights of the Parents” over the period of a whole year, with hundreds and hundreds of pages of commentary, with one key objective: to get all the Muslims to realise the value and importance of their Parents and then to seek Allah’s forgiveness for our inevitable shortcomings when that fact suddenly dawns.
Yet the video below will establish this fact in indescribable fashion and in only a few minutes. It just goes to show that all you need to convey this most fundamental message is sincerity, six minutes and a camera. May Allah reward all of those involved in producing and promoting this piece of work.
By the way, when you’ve stopped crying, recognise your guilt and now do something about it. May Allah give us all the tawfiq to do that which He commands us to.

Question: I would love to be able to hug my mum but I think we would both feel so awkward about it.
How to overcome this?

The Answer to the Heat Wave of Fitnah. Grab the Umbrella of Taqwa (Advice for Summer): Ust. Suhaib Webb
From Suhaib Webb’s Blog
Asalamu alaykum,
I hope all of you are well and pray that everyone is in a state of being close to Allah. Just 10 short years ago I was struggling as a new convert to Islam and one of the greatest hurdles was the ladies. My college days were rough in many regards. Before my conversion I was a successful DJ (I had just got my hands on a really nice four track mixer. Okay so you know I’m old school. But, in those days I could make it fly) and was about to walk the Burning Sands and pledge Alpha Phi Alpha. All praise be to God that instead I became Muslim and slowly started to pull out of those things. It was rough but the most difficult part was dealing with the other gender.
Young brothers and sister I feel your pain man. It is difficult and as the summer months roll up it gets more and more difficult to manage as the clothes roll up as well. We all know the routine: “Lower the gaze! Lower the gaze! Lower the gaze!” But, if the heart is not lowered in awe of Allah’s magnificence and His tremendous bounties, then how can we expect the eyes to lower?

Ibn ‘Abbas said [r]:“There is not a single believer who has two parents and wakes up while he is good to them except that Allah opens up for him two gates to Paradise, and if he makes one of them angry, Allah will not be Pleased with him until that parent becomes pleased with him again.” It was asked: “Even if that parent was oppressive and in the wrong?” It was replied: “Yes, even so. And he never wakes up while he is bad to them except that Allah opens up for him two gates to Hell.”

Powerful Quran Recitation: Shaykh Muhammad Ayoub حفظه الله
“And turn in repentance and in obedience with true Faith (Islamic Monotheism) to your Lord and submit to Him, (in Islam), before the torment comes upon you, then you will not be helped.
Surah: Zumar Ayah 54 (39:54)
Tafsir Ibn Kathir: The Call to Repent Before the Punishment Comes
This Ayah is a call to all sinners, be they disbelievers or others, to repent and turn to Allah. This Ayah tells us that Allah, may He be blessed and exalted, will forgive all the sins of those who repent to Him and turn back to Him, no matter what or how many his sins are, even if they are like the foam of the sea. This cannot be interpreted as meaning that sins will be forgiven without repentance, because Shirk can only be forgiven for the one who repents from it.
Al-Bukhari recorded that Ibn `Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said that some of the people of Shirk killed many people and committed Zina (illegal sexual acts) to a great extent; they came to Muhammad and said, “What you are saying and calling us to is good; if only you could tell us that there is an expiation for what we have done.”

Erase 2500 Sins A Day in Less than 15 Minutes
Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘There are two qualities, no Muslim man acquires them but he will enter Paradise, and they are simple and easy. He should glorify Allaah (say Subhaan Allaah) ten times immediately after each prayer, and praise Him (say Al-hamdu Lillaah) ten times and magnify Him (say Allaahu akbar) ten times.’

Pride in Islam
…”When it comes to praise, we shouldn’t praise people for who they are, but praising the good that they do is a form of encouragement and is a sign that one is on the right track. Islaamically, there is nothing wring with liking to hear people’s praise of one’s efforts as long as this feeling comes after the action was already done for Allaah. A man came to the Prophet (SAS) and asked أرأيت الرجل يعمل العمل من الخير ، ويحمده الناس عليه ؟
“What do you say regarding a man who does a good deed and others praise him for it?”
The Prophet (SAS) replied: تلك عاجل بشرى المؤمن “That is one of the early glad tidings that a believer will receive (for the good he does)”
